One of only two Relais & Chateaux properties in Kenya (the other is a sister property ol Donyo Lodge), this private camp combines the best of wildlife viewing with the best of hospitality and guided safaris. No other camp offers the extensive traversing area of Mara Plains Camp, with access to a total of 100,000 acres of private conservation land, as well as the world-famous Maasai Mara, home of the Great Migration. Each Mara Plains guest contributes significantly to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy's thriving ecosystem; conservation fees paid safeguard this habitat, while supporting more than 1,000 Maasai families. This partnership agreement ensures the survival of an impressive volume and variety of wildlife.
The main area of the camp will take your breath away and after crossing the bridge, Africa is revealed. Positioned like this with the horizon in front only interrupted by a single acacia tree. This is the Africa we imagine. Surrounding the main dining room is the library, a space to enjoy a quiet afternoon, reading books or editing your photographs. Flowing fabrics, open-air spaces and solid teak structures make up the space.
Each of the seven tents has high canopied canvas ceilings, carved wooden floors and details about the rich history of safaris in East Africa. Thick, deep purple Lamu wood doors and bronze accents-these small details transport guests to a bygone era and faraway lands. The suite's well-appointed amenities (including a copper bathtub) and expansive private terrace complete what is truly a stunning concept.
