Located right on the seafront of the famous Perivolos beach, a 3 km stretch of black volcanic sand on Santorini's pristine east side that has yet to be disturbed by crowds of visitors, just 10 km from Santorini's harbor and 13 km from the airport. Istoria is inspired by storytelling, deriving its name from the Greek word "???????", meaning history. The 12 rooms, each with a name in a different language, which translates into the word "story," are arched impressively into the privacy of individual terraces, leading, in most cases, to private outdoor pools and Jacuzzis.
A new twist on the Greek beachside hotel, Istoria's design is an eclectic impression of Mediterranean influences. Rustic textures, as seen in the various terra cotta, wood, and concrete elements that dot the space, sit side by side with sleek, modern furniture and accents that include marble-top consoles and low-hanging ceramic pendant lighting in the rooms. Decorative accents produce reminders of times past; oversized stone pots reference the island's extensive history, while its abundant natural wealth comes in the form of volcanic stone, Santorini's black sand and a surrounding of native trees and plants, such as centuries-old olive trees, herbs and aloe.
