Istoria se inspira en la narración, derivando su nombre de la palabra griega “ιστορία”, que significa historia. A new twist on the Greek beachside hotel, Istoria's design is an eclectic impression of Mediterranean influences. Rustic textures, as seen in the various terra cotta, wood and concrete elements that dot the space, sit side by side with sleek, modern furnishings and accents that include marble-top consoles and low-hanging ceramic pendant lighting in the rooms. Decorative accents produce reminders of times past; oversized stone pots reference the island's extensive history, while its abundant natural wealth comes in the form of volcanic stone, Santorini's black sand and an environment of native trees and plants, such as centuries-old olive trees, herbs and aloe.
