Location: Selinda Reserve in Botswana
Zarafa Camp is an elegant and exclusive four-bedroom tented camp located in the 130,000 hectare Selinda Private Reserve in northern Botswana, in an area where the Okavango Delta and the Chobe/Savute corridors meet. Few camps can compete with the location of this little wonder, a true gem, the main and only Relais & Chateaux property in Botswana. The entire camp has a magnificent view of the crystal clear waters of Zibadjanja Lagoon, source of the famous Savute Channel.
Zarafa Camp is the brainchild of the founders of Great Plains Conservation, who have brought together their
safari experiences and thus have created what they consider to be the best camp with the latest in environmental protection. For this reason Zarafa is considered the greenest luxury camp on the continent.
The guest tents offer 100 square meters of usable space under the canvas canopy (excluding the railway sleepers terrace and the private plunge pool area), soft beige canvas and canopy roofs with open sides (protected with mesh fabric).
The larger bedroom is connected to an open-plan bathroom with an impressive claw-foot copper claw-foot bathtub, an indoor shower, a separate toilet and double sinks. Decks around the tent lead to a private pool and outdoor shower, all overlooking Botswana's unspoiled wilderness. Under a stunning canopy of African ebony trees, the camp has a beautiful main lounge, with adjacent library and dining area. A well-stocked handicraft boutique will leave you more than satisfied if your desire is for therapy-shopping. In-room massage is also available. Zarafa has successfully maintained a distinctly African feel, superbly balancing the personal with the casual; the romance and the adventure. There is nothing quite like Zarafa Camp in terms of environmental credentials and diligent care.
