The 120,000-hectare private Sapi concession was granted to Great Plains Conservation for management and care in 2016. The concession immediately became a private photographic reserve. A host of measures were implemented to minimize the various impacts that humans had had on the area prior to its granting. Alongside this amazing wildlife sanctuary is the neighboring Mana Pools National Park, and they combine between the two over 337,000 hectares of prime protected wilderness, plus the
Sapi Reserve is today recognized as one of the top nesting destinations in Africa. Collectively, they are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a key and central sector of the Middle Zambezi Biosphere Reserve.

Our Sapi Explorers Camp, located along the Zambezi River, creates a safari experience with the romance of yesteryear reminiscent of the African explorers of old, while ensuring that discovery and adventure will be an essential part of the journey. The camp is perfectly located along the Zambezi River, ensuring an excellent base from which to explore the Sapi Reserve, Mana Pools and the Zambezi River. With only 5 explorer style tents, each with en-suite bathroom, shower and toilet, this is the Africa of yesteryear. You will enjoy unique moments as wildlife congregate to drink along the Zambezi River and also marvel at African sunsets.
