Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica is an elegant jungle lodge next to the lush Tambopata National Reserve. Remote and pristine, yet easily accessible, this region is only a 35 minute flight from Cusco. Here, in the area known as the "Biodiversity Capital of Peru", awaits the opportunity to discover an incredible variety of species - birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, trees, among others. A cozy refuge of 200 hectares (494 acres), Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica offers a variety of land and river excursions that introduce guests to the magic of the rainforest. This simple but hospitable lodge with limited electricity has been a pioneer of ecotourism for 40 years, promoting the sustainable and innovative use of the tropical rainforest of southern Peru, and supporting important scientific research since its opening in 1975 with its initial name Cusco Amazonico.
35 solid thatched-roof huts, built on raised platforms in the indigenous style, surround an architecturally impressive main building and dining room, constructed of native materials that blend almost seamlessly with the jungle. The food offers a pleasant complement to the simplicity of lantern light and rainforest sounds. Tree trunk walkways traverse the property, designed in the manner of a native Ese Eja village overlooking Madre de Dios, connecting cabins with a pavilion that houses the dining room, as well as the bar and main lounge, plus balconies for bird and star gazing. The Ecocentro provides useful information to our guests, as well as a meeting point for excursions and presentation nights.
